About Elections

Retirement Board elections are held annually and information about nominating procedures can obtained at the Cook County Pension Fund (CCPF) main office building at 70 W. Madison St, Suite 1925, Chicago, IL.  An election is only held if there are two or more candidates running for a trustee position.

Information for Candidates

Nominating petitions can be obtained at the CCPF main office building and petitions must be filed at the office.

All Trustees must abide by the fiduciary and governance standards outlined by CCPF and in accordance with the statutory requirements of the Illinois Pension Code. The fiduciary duties, responsibilities, and expectations of Trustees are described in the Considering Candidacy Guide.

Nomination Requirements:

Cook County Employee Candidates
  • Each Cook County Employee candidate shall file one hundred (100) signatures of different contributors to the Cook County Fund.
  • An employee must have five (5) years of service by December 1st of the election year to be eligible for candidacy.
Cook County Annuitant Candidates
  • Each Cook County Annuitant candidate shall file ten (10) signatures of different annuitants from the Cook County Fund.
  • An annuitant must have an effective retirement date on or before September 1st of the election year to be eligible for candidacy.
Forest Preserve Employee Candidates
  • Each Forest Preserve Employee candidate shall file twenty-five (25) signatures of different contributors from the Forest Preserve Fund.
  • An employee must have five (5) years of service by December 1st of the election year to be eligible for candidacy.
Forest Preserve Annuitant Candidates
  • Each Forest Preserve Annuitant candidate shall file ten (10) signatures of different annuitants from the Forest Preserve Fund.
  • An annuitant must have an effective retirement date on or before September 1st of the election year to be eligible for candidacy.

Information About Voting

Vote By Mail

Eligible voters will receive a ballot in the mail.  Mail-in ballots will be mailed to the address on record with CCPF.

If you do not receive a ballot, contact CCPF at (312) 603-1200 to request that another form be mailed out.
